The Scariest Upload is the First One

Hey guys, welcome to my channel— ahem, welcome to the Upload Club newsletter!  A thing you signed up for, possibly weeks or months ago, without knowing exactly what you were in for. 

First off, thank you. It means a lot that you’re here. I’ve been hard at work on this - trying to take all my experience, insights, and aha moments I’ve learned along the way and turn it into something useful and fun to read! 

So: this newsletter will kick off properly in January 2025. (Because deep reading and mid-December do not go together.) But for now, consider this our “Post #0” to tell you about what to expect…

WHO AM I?

I’m Hayley, a YouTube Growth Strategist with an extensive track record and YT creator client list. 

Before starting Upload Club, I spent the last 12 years at Google and YouTube, unlocking meaningful career growth and audience expansion for creators, podcasts and brands. 

Today, creators hire Upload Club as dedicated support to help them launch, monetize and rapidly grow their channels to maximize revenue and reach. Our specialty is working with established creators level-jumping from subscribers in the several hundred thousand to 1M+ range… but we’ve also been able to help clients just starting their YouTube journey create a cohesive content strategy to set them up for sustained, long-term success. 

WHY A NEWSLETTER?

I’m starting this because I love helping creators find their voices, so they can connect authentically and organically with audiences. This newsletter will help me reach more of you and get us all thinking about this whole creator life even if you’re not officially working with Upload Club.

Every month, The Upload Club newsletter will cover a different hot topic and/or burning question within the YouTube growth strategy community… Like:

• How do I generate viable ideas for YouTube fast enough?

• How do I balance consistent output with consistent quality?

• Is my upload schedule working for me? 

• Am I fatiguing my core audience by trying to appeal to a broader base? (OR,)

• Am I doing too much fan service for my core fans, and now my videos are inaccessible to newcomers?

• What mistakes am I making without even realizing it?

• What am I doing right that I can replicate naturally?

"Upload Club" isn't just a name, it's a first-principles reminder: There’s no single path to success on YouTube. Each growth journey is unique and requires finesse, dedication, and sometimes even breaking the “rules” to win. But Rule 1 is always the same: You must upload.

Boy, easier said than done – uploading can be intimidating. It’s a vulnerable act, putting your work out there. That's exactly why I created Upload Club. The goal is to help you feel that uploading doesn’t have to be hard. This newsletter will make it easier, more manageable, and, dare I say, even fun.

So think about this: this very newsletter, the one you’re reading right now, is me going through it with you. The first upload is always the scariest, and I’m doing it anyway.
